We believe quality recovery is a direct result of qualified and caring staff working together with our clients toward the common goal of sobriety. Amicus House is dedicated to providing total recovery services from any substance abuse problem. Our quality recovery environment, variety of specialized services, and our exemplary success rate demonstrate the strength of our commitment. Profile

Experienced in the treatment of drug and alcohol abuse since 1990 and in management for 10 years prior to that, Lori Johnson is the driving force behind the success of Amicus House. By being involved in overseeing individual treatment personally, she is able to maintain the high level of quality that has established Amicus House as one of Northern California’s premiere treatment facilities.

Richard and Lori Johnson founded Amicus House, Inc in 1998 after owning and directing Moriah, Inc. an alcohol and drug treatment program, which was comprised of 7 facilities founded by them in 1989. Richard Johnson began his career in the field in 1977 and was an innovator in the area of rehabilitation and the creation of alternatives to incarceration of alcoholics and drug offenders.

He became known and respected in the community for his accomplishments and the many people who feel they owe their lives to him. After Richard’s passing in 2001, Lori has continued their dream of providing the highest level of treatment at an affordable cost. A respected member of the community, Lori Johnson has proven her commitment to helping others. In addition to directing operations at the primary treatment facility, she supervises a network of certified transition houses.

In 2008, after retiring as a Health Care Program Manager at the Santa Clara County Department of Alcohol and Drug Services (DADS), Mr. Stephen Maggetti and Lori collaborated and began the Outpatient Treatment and Work Release components of Amicus House. Steve began his career in the field of substance abuse treatment in 1984 and has become one of the most highly regarded and well respected professionals in this field.

Over the years, Lori and Steve have established themselves as authorities in the field of addiction and recovery. After Steve’s retirement in 2012, Lori, as the Director of Amicus House, continues to uphold her personal values while maintaining a facility dedicated to helping those in need. In 2019, Lori is no longer providing residential treatment or outpatient treatment and will continue the Transitional Living aka Sober Living (SLE) and the Work Release Program as she moves into a semi-retirement mode.

I am so grateful for Lori Johnson and her exceptionally wonderful staff at the Amicus House in San Jose, Calfornia. They have helped me changed my life once again! As a client, I have learned how to live my life without the use of drugs and alcohol. Lori and her staff fully understand the life of an alcoholic and addict, and have structured their program to where the client is given information and suggestions on how to stay clean and sober. I highly recommend the Amicus House to anyone who is serious in their recovery.
